I truly enjoyed working on this project! The family was so gracious and patient. They have four daughters, three who are still living at home, and had a new puppy! If they can survive a major remodel, anyone can!! When we initially met, we discussed all of the elements that they wanted to change, including appliances, countertops, paint, cabinets, hardware and backsplash. Soon after our initial meeting, they decided to put in new flooring in the living room, change light fixtures and add can lights. Everything was up for change except for the tile floor. There was just too much of it in the entry, kitchen and hallways to replace. It’s a beautiful tile worth keeping but it did present the challenge of incorporating the warm gold tones in the tile while lightening up everything else. We needed it to all look very intentional and cohesive. The other main challenge was with the contractors and their ability to get the supplies they needed to build custom cabinets and doors. Again, this family handled the setback with so much grace. The way we were able to bridge the gap between the tile and the white cabinets was finding the PERFECT granite countertop that had a vein of rust through it but mostly creams and grays. We also found a beautiful backsplash that also pulled all of the colors together. In the end, I think the client was very pleased with the overall aesthetic and function of their new kitchen!
